Gum & Hillier, P.A., was born when Howard L. Gum and David R. Hillier left the well-established Asheville Law Firm of Van Winkle, Buck, Wall, Starnes, Hyde & Davis, P.A., to form a new firm in 1979. Our offices at 47 North Market Street in Historic Downtown Asheville, were extensively renovated in the early 1980's. We continue to receive compliments about our law firm's attractive appearance, in which we take great pride.

The Firm serves primarily families and individuals in the area of Family, Matrimonial and Bankruptcy Law. We also handle other routine matters for our clients such as wills, real estate transactions, small business matters, and litigation with respect to those issues. So, while we are a "boutique" firm in many ways, we are also a full-services firm in others. The partners of Howard Gum, Dave Hillier and Patrick McCroskey, are all Board Certified Specialists in their fields, Mr. Hillier in Bankruptcy Law, and Mr. Gum and Mr. McCroskey in Family Law.

Mediation and Arbitration services are offered by the lawyers in their respective specialties.
