Paralegals Sandra Cole and Donna Cooper

Sandy, Donna and I are a true family of professionals. As a team, we've been together for 17 years, and Sandy has been around for even longer and will soon celebrate her 25th anniversary with the firm.

 

	Donna Cooper is a College of the Mainland graduate and transplant from the great State of Texas. She became a paralegal in 1989, is a member of the North Carolina Paralegals Association, the North Carolina Bar Association Legal Assistants/Family Law Section and the Legal Assistants Division of the "Dirty Thirty", a by-invitation-only private club consisting of the top 30 family law attorneys in North Carolina and their qualified staff. Donna has two thriving adult children and lives with her three beloved dogs and a bevie of other furred and finned ones. Donna is a speaker and educational facilitator for the advancement of professionalism in her chosen career and has spoken before the Asheville Area Paralegals Association, the North Carolina Paralegals Association, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers Legal Assistants Division as well as companies offering Continuing Legal Education in North Carolina. donna@gumandhillier.com
Sandra Cole came to me nearly 25 years ago and has been an endless source of support to the firm and its clients. The trusting bond that has developed in our firm is in large part attributed to Sandy's dedication and leadership. She is a jewel in her profession. Sandy is an Asheville native. Leita Leavell is the newest member of Howard’s staff.  Her’s is an interesting story.   With over 16 years of service in the legal profession, Leita worked for over 9 years with highly respected Asheville matrimonial lawyer (and friend of Howard’s),  S. J. "Jerry " Crow, until his retirement in 2006.  When Mr. Crow asked Leita what she would like to do and who she would like to work for following his retirement, Howard was one of her two choices.  Mr. Crow gave Howard a call.  Not too long after, as Howard’s practice expanded and another experienced paralegal was needed, Leita was his first call. Leita loves working at Gum, Hillier & McCroskey.  She says working with wonderful people who genuinely respect one another makes her job  enjoyable, and she finds it rewarding to assist clients in dealing with family related issues.  Leita is a North Carolina Certified Paralegal , a member of the North Carolina Bar Association  - Legal Assistant’s Division and a member of the Asheville Area Paralegal Association.  Leita is a welcome and valuable addition to the firm and you’ll enjoy knowing her.
