Its official. Howard's well known within the legal community as amongst the most respected of professionals. Super Lawyers said so this year when they listed him amongst the top handful of lawyers in the entire state of North Carolina.

In September, 2005, Hurricane Ivan swept through North Carolina with a vengeance. Howard and his wife, Christine, in conjunction with a Mission of the Central United Church in Asheville, organized and participated in a project to restore homes in western North Carolina damaged by the storm. Howard and Christine hosted dinner for those attorneys who participated in the restoration. It was an opportunity not only to serve the community, but for lawyers across the state to participate in camaraderie and good spirit such as that generated by this kind of giving.

In February of 2006, the North Carolina State Bar named a professional service award after Howard. The full story link can be found on the News page. Be sure to check it out.   Following that, in October, Howard was elected by the lawyers practicing in the 28th Judicial District to be State Bar Councilor, liaising between the state bar and Buncombe County's 28th Judicial District.

Howard is an avid outdoors man and enjoys fishing, hunting, sport shooting and other related activities on his farm in Georgia. Howard has two big boxers who are all attention and best buds when the grill gets fired up.  He and his wife Christine cherish their time at the farm, nestled in the foothills of North Georgia's Appalachian Mountains, and spend as many quiet weekends and holidays there as possible. A sportsman's paradise, its no wonder Howard's smiling.
